The publishing and film phenomenon

We were first introduced to Rowling’s wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone back in 1997. The fantasy novel was an immediate hit with readers worldwide, going on to top The New York Times bestseller list, and has now sold more than 120 million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 70 languages. Rowling’s series has sold more than 500 million copies overall – a landmark achievement in publishing – and helped countless children discover a love of reading. Enjoy the story’s new chapter on stage by booking your Harry Potter tickets.

Given the unprecedented success of the Harry Potter books, a big-screen outing was keenly anticipated. The film version of the first novel hit cinemas in 2001, directed by Chris Columbus and starring newcomers Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, as well as leading actors in the adult roles, including Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Fiona Shaw, Robbie Coltrane and Richard Griffiths. It was the highest-grossing film of the year, taking more than $974 million at the box office, and spawned seven sequels over the next decade.

But that was far from the end of our visits to Rowling’s magical universe. Next up on the big screen was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in 2016, starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. The second instalment in the planned five-film series, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, was released in 2018, and the third movie is arriving soon. In the meantime, catch Rowling’s thrilling tale on stage: buy your Harry Potter tickets.

From page to stage

While Rowling was never keen on the idea of a stage musical, she was won over by the pitch for a Harry Potter play. The subsequent West End show was developed by Rowling herself alongside an experienced theatre team: as well as Thorne and Tiffany, producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender worked on the project.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Books

The emphasis from the start was on finding theatrical ways to tell the story, rather than relying on the use of video, so as to differentiate the show from the film incarnations. That was supported by innovative work by the creative team, including movement by Steven Hoggett, design by Christine Jones, music by Imogen Heap, special effects by Jeremy Chernick and illusions by Jamie Harrison.

The plot of Cursed Child picks up from the epilogue of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, in which a now-adult Harry is at Platform 9¾ with wife Ginny to wave off their son Albus, who is starting at Hogwarts. Also beginning at the wizarding school are Hermione and Ron’s daughter Rose, and Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius. Reserve your seat on the Hogwarts Express and join them by booking your Harry Potter tickets.

The two-part play reimmerses viewers in the beloved world of the book series, with plenty of familiar characters and settings – including Hogwarts itself, the Forbidden Forest and the Ministry of Magic – as well introducing new characters and adventures. The biggest thrill is seeing magic live on stage, but the show also has very human dilemmas that everyone can relate to, including the angst of adolescence, wonder of friendship and challenges of parenthood. Plan your trip now and book your Harry Potter tickets.

Imagenomic portraiture v.2.3 windows 7 compatible. A theatrical sensation

The Harry Potter Palace Theatre production began previews in June 2016, with a lead cast of Jamie Parker as Harry, Noma Dumezweni as Hermione, Paul Thornley as Ron, Poppy Miller as Ginny, Sam Clemmett as Albus and Anthony Boyle as Scorpius. It was a big hit with critics and audiences alike, and went on to win a record-breaking nine Olivier Awards, including for best new play and best director.

After conquering London, the show went on to Broadway, opening in 2018 – with the lead West End cast reprising their roles – and scored six Tony Awards, including for best play. It has also travelled to Melbourne, San Francisco and Hamburg, and will be making its way to Toronto and Tokyo soon. The published script is a big hit, too: it sold more than four million print copies in the first week after its release in the US, Canada and the UK.

Now the show is back in the West End, with an exciting cast that includes Jamie Ballard, Michelle Gayle, Thomas Aldridge, James Howard, Dominic Short, Luke Summer and Susie Trayling. Just like the books, this show is a thrill for both adult and younger audiences, making it a great family outing, as well as a treat for all dedicated fans of Rowling’s wizarding world. Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Book Read

The Wizarding World journey continues . . . The powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most of whom are unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald's plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second screenplay in a five-film series to be written by J.K. Rowling, author of the internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. Set in 1927, a few months after the events of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and moving from New York to London, Paris and even back to Hogwarts, this story of mystery and magic reveals an extraordinary new chapter in the wizarding world. Illustrated with stunning line art from MinaLima with some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of both the books and films.

Adoring fans have explored much about Harry Potter, especially his classic hero's journey. However, many don't notice how the other characters suffer through the same struggle at every stage of life - one Dumbledore and Neville Longbottom pass but Draco Malfoy and Voldemort do not. Exploding into the Wizarding World in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child offered an unusual double hero's journey for Albus Severus and Scorpius and a twisted antiheroine's journey for Delphi. This book demystifies all these, unveiling the nostalgic symbolism behind the play's auguries, baby blankets, and time-turners. 2016 also introduced Ilvermorney, the American Hogwarts, and its valiant, loving founder Isolt Sayre. Uncovering her folklore and symbolism reveals a secret war between the Celtic old world and the bold pioneer spirit of the new. Meanwhile, Rowling's original characters overturn Greek, Roman, Norse, and Celtic myths, even as Harry unites King Arthur's hallows and claims the sword as destined king. Revisioning folklore from England to Africa is one of Rowling's talents, especially in Beedle the Bard. Rowling also nods to history, from Voldemort's World War II childhood and Nazi prejudice to the dazzling glitter of the 1920s, setting for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. For serious fans, an entire world of mythology waits below the surface of the ever-expanding Potterverse.
